Lingdale Junior Academy History

Here at Lingdale Golf Club we are very proud of the Junior Section and the manner in which it has developed over the past six years, with a group of around twenty regularly attending Evie Carter’s Junior Golf Academy.

The Junior Academy is ran by a dedicated and enthusiastic team led by with Evie Carter (PGA Professional) and Steve Meadwell (Junior Organiser). They are further supported by the Club Manager, Welfare Office and the Head Professional. Lingdale's Junior Academy prides itself on providing a safe, fun environment for our members to learn about the game of golf and the life skills which it offers whilst having fun and developing friendships within the group.

Lingdale Golf Club achieved SafeGolf accreditation in March 2021 which is then reviewed on an annual basis.

Lingdale Junior Academy 2024

We are delighted to announce the return of the Lingdale Junior Academy for 2024.

As many of you will be aware Evie Cater is expecting her first child during April and this will inevitably have an impact upon the Academy and how it is run during the year.

Having reviewed all options, we have agreed that initially the Junior Academy will continue with our Junior Organiser, Steve Meadwell overseeing the sessions. Steve is a level one qualified coach and so can work on the basic principles and we are hopeful that Evie will join us at various points during the summer to support Steve before returning later in the year for her Autumn and Winter sessions all of which are part of the Academy.

What do you get from the Junior Academy?

• Juniors will have reserved access to the practice areas each Saturday between 3pm and 5pm with Steve organising regular supervised sessions. The dates and times of these will be confirmed via the Spond app.
• Members of the Junior Academy will have tee times booked every Monday evening at 6pm allowing them access to the course. At this time we also welcome the Juniors parents/guardians to join them on the course and play alongside them.
• Junior Academy members have the opportunity to represent Lingdale in the Golf Sixes events played across the county of Leicestershire & Rutland.
• All members of the Junior Academy also become full members of the Club and receive access to the BRS tee booking system, a members bar card allowing discount on food and drink along with the ability to gain and maintain a WHS handicap.

We are mindful that losing Evie and her expertise each week is a blow to our Junior Academy but that the plans we have in place will allow our Junior Academy to continue to progress and those who are part of it the opportunity to gain themselves a handicap and represent our Club.

The cost to join the Lingdale Junior Academy during 2024 has been agreed at £115 and if this is of interest to your child there are a number of documents which we require both the child and parent/guardian to complete in order to ensure we comply with our safeguarding policy.
