Welcome to Lingdale Golf Club

Lingdale nestles in the picturesque surroundings of Charnwood Forest in the heart of the North West Leicestershire countryside. Visitors and members are treated to a golf course which challenges golfers of all abilities, spectacular views and a variety of wild life on show including pheasants, moor hens, buzzards and on occassion munt jack deer. The golf course is easily accessible from Loughborough or Leicester and is only 10 minutes from junction 23 of the M1 motorway.

The course was designed in 1966 by course architect David Tucker and was described by Tony Jacklin during a visit in 1989 as having 'probably the toughest opening three holes in the Midlands'. The greens have been built to USGA specifications and the course is complimented by a clubhouse and professional shop which provides the finest of facilities.

Lingdale to Host Major Championship in 2010

22 June 2009

PRESS RELEASE

MAJOR CHAMPIONSHIP FOR LINGDALE GOLF CLUB

Lingdale Golf Club has been chosen to host the English Golf Union Midlands Amateur Team Championship for the first time on 19th June  2010.

The Championship is only held in Leicestershire once in every 10 years and next year’s event  has been planned to coincide with Leicestershire and Rutland Golf Union’s Centenary Year.

Mike Wicks, Captain in 2010 said “ We feel very honoured and excited that Lingdale has been chosen to host this prestigious event  from the many other great golf courses in Leicestershire and Rutland.

“It is made all the more prestigious the fact we will be celebrating Leicestershire and Rutland’s 100th birthday”.   We look forward to welcoming  everyone  next year”.

Tony Harper, President,  Leicestershire and Rutland Golf Union said: The Team Championship is a major event and I am delighted that Lingdale  has been chosen to host it particularly in our centenary year.”

“During a visit to the course in 1989 Tony Jacklin  said that Lingdale probably has the toughest opening three holes in the Midlands, so I am sure that the teams will  find it a good test of golf in the most magnificent of settings.

Ten teams of six players from across the Midlands will play thirty six holes with all six scores to count . The winning team will then go on to represent the Midlands region in the national team championship finals.
